Announcing The Up Group’s partnership with Hope and Homes for Children
At The Up Group, we are proud to be supporting Hope and Homes for Children, an international charity working to stop the institutionalisation of children. They close orphanages, support care reform and help overhaul child protection across the world. Since 1994 they have been trying to break the cycle of trauma for the estimated 5.4 million children who are confined to orphanages, many of whom suffer violence, abuse and neglect whilst in these institutions.
At present, Hope and Homes for Children are working hard to support the 100,000 children who remain warehoused in the 700 orphanages across the country of Ukraine. As fighting intensifies and curfews and migration increase, staff are fleeing. Large numbers of children are being left to face the dangers of war, alone.
They are a small organisation with limited resources, but are uniquely placed in Ukraine, Moldova and Romania to ensure resources, skills and expertise protect unaccompanied children and families right now, and in the aftermath of this war. At the same time, they are advocating for child refugees to be kept out of orphanages and instead placed in emergency foster care.

At our London Board Dinner last month, we raised £2,500 for Hope and Homes for Children through the kind generosity of our guests. We are looking forwarding to fundraising even more across the course of the year for this very worthy cause – watch this space!
